Filter Mantis - Biomechanical Metal Sculpture, Hand Welded Steampunk Insect Specimen
Meet the Filter Mantis, a predatory biomechanical insect assembled from salvaged automotive hardware.
This one-of-a-kind welded sculpture takes the form of a mechanical mantis. Its torso is built around a repurposed oil filter, paired with sharp articulated metal legs, gear assemblies, piping and a sweeping blade-like cranial plate. Every joint, weld and machine mark is preserved, celebrating the raw texture of scrap auto parts.
It stands freely without an extra stand, balanced on its spiked limbs, as if ready to creep forward. Weathered steel, brass tones and worn patina give it the look of a creature evolved within engine bays.
It joins the Pressure Leech and Aero Manta in this series of industrial biomechanical specimens. A stunning pick for lovers of steampunk, found-object assemblage art, weird entomology and dark mechanical wildlife collections.
