Whale City, The Atomic Leviathan

A whale is the largest living body the ocean has ever known. On its back, this one carries a civilization.

Whale City is a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted mechanical sculpture that fuses the organic with the industrial, a carbon-based leviathan and a silicon-based city merged into a single living machine. The whale's dark resin-sculpted body is covered in riveted plating, exposed pipework and reinforced fins, while its back bears a fully realized nuclear power plant: cooling towers, glowing reactor tubes, gears, valves and a control deck, all bathed in blue luminescence.

Every component is assembled by hand, over 400 individual parts in total, using precision metal components and hand-sculpted resin forms, giving the piece an industrial texture no mass-produced collectible can match. The whale's eye and the reactor core light up, as if the beast's heartbeat were the city's power source: the creature feeds the machine, and the machine keeps the creature alive.

A dialogue between nature and technology, Whale City explores the boundary where biological life meets mechanical life, and asks what it means for one to carry the other.
